Barry Link Barnard, 75, of Florence, AL, slipped into the arms of Jesus on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was born July 9, 1948 in Johnson City, TN to the late Ernest and Margaret Barnard. He was the middle of 5 children, preceded in death by his older brother Jim Barnard (Wanda) and sister Susan Bailey, and lovingly remembered by his younger sisters Nancy Hensley (Michael) and Jan Miller (Rob), along with many beloved extended family members.
Barry graduated from University High School, obtaining a scholarship to East Tennessee State University to play the trumpet in the band, and then went on to become a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in Chemical Engineering (Go Vols!;)). He first worked for the State of Tennessee in Air Pollution Control, and then for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Tennessee and Alabama until he chose to retire to devote himself full-time to his favorite role of Grampy and family man.
Barry was a devoted, wonderful, and loving servant leader and provider for his family. Holding his memory dear to their hearts is his loving wife, Pamela Barnard nee Smith, and children Valerie Presley (with her husband Josh and son Gideon), Allison Wade (with her husband Jeff and children Ashlyn, Katelin, Madison, and Dawson), and Adam Barnard--all of whom cannot adequately express their deep, deep gratitude for the love, prayers, support, and acts of kindness offered to us by our faithful family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers the Lord sent to us during this difficult time. It has been so comforting that he passed during a week when we are constantly reminded of the Way that our Savior made for all of us to be reunited. Thank you Jesus that this isn't a "good bye" but "see you soon"! We miss you and love you Barry, with all our hearts!
