This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Bill Alexander, 66 years old, born on March 24, 1958, and passed away on July 18, 2024. 

“Bill was such a nice guy!” That’s what his friends and business people who knew him said about Bill Alexander.

Bill lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento most of his life. He moved to Phoenix Arizona earlier this year, and was happy about being retired and living there.

After moving to the Bay Area from Milwaukee, Bill was the first black child in his elementary school, and was bullied by some of the other kids. Just a few years later, Bill was elected 6th grade class president! He also played bass guitar for awhile, just for fun. Bill enjoyed working on and riding his motorcycle. 

One of Bill’s passions was comic book collecting. He was a well-known expert and had a number of friends in several comic book collector groups, and wrote and published articles. 

Bill actively participated in the CPV Price Guide. He is listed as “Overstreet Advisor, U.S.- published comic book cover price variant specialist and historian.” Publisher Benjamin Nobel wrote: “Bill and I became friends through a shared interest in our comic book collecting hobby and for the past eight years we have worked together (along with a group of others) on a publication that serves a particular niche of the hobby where Bill had a particular interest and specialty -- I publish it online at https://www.cpvpriceguide.com/ -- where Bill authored a great many articles over the years and he was well known in this area of the hobby (especially for his research on variant comics published by Archie Comics in particular).”

He also actively participated in Gemstone Publishing https://gemstonepub.com/. Mark Huesman of Gemstone Publishing wrote: “Bill was an enthusiastic collector, especially of the Archie comics and the price variants of Archies and some of the super-hero comics. He was an advisor to our Overstreet price guide for 15 years, and his market reports were among the earliest to arrive after the call went out every December, with mini-follow-ups to expand the data that he had sent. His passion showed in his writing, and I'm sure he got a kick out of having his report on the first or second page of the 90 to 100-page section of reports by all of the advisors. A last name starting with A has its advantages when alphabetical order is in play. This year, he got to be the first report.”

Doug Sulipa wrote: “I have known Bill Alexander for over 25 years, since the Advertising in CBG Comic Buyers Guide Days. Bill loved writing about collecting comics since the CBM Comic Book Marketplace Days. Bill was a big fan of all comic Variants, most especially CPV Canadian Newsstand Price Variants. Bill Alexander loved writing Market Reports for the Overstreet Annual Comic Price Guide as an advisor, sad to hear he will not see his contribution in #54 in Print in just the next couple of weeks. We need to appreciate people more, while they are still with us. Bill left his mark in the comics collecting hobby. Rest in Peace my Friend.”

Bill died peacefully at the hospital after suffering a stroke and a fall.
