Carmen Hernandez-Camacho - Obituary

August 17, 2020
Carmen Hernandez-Camacho went home to be with our Heavenly Father on July 28th, 2020. She was born September 20, 1968 in Houston, Texas and was the daughter of Ernestina (Gamez) Hernandez and Roberto Hernandez. She grew up on the east side of Houston in Denver Harbor and was a graduate of the class of ‘86 from the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. Following graduation, she went on to the University of Houston Downtown where she received her Bachelor's Degree. From there she went onto St. Marys' University in San Antonio, Texas and received her Master's Degree in Justice Administration while also working on her Juris Doctorate with her oldest son born and her second son on the way. After receiving her degrees, she went on to work as an immigration consultant for the U.S. House of Representatives in the office of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. While working there she had numerous clients that she helped with immigration issues and finalizing citizenship. When she was not working, she enjoyed time with her family doing activities such as watching Disney movies, decorating for the holidays, and going to the beach.

Carmen is survived by her three sons, Rafael, Vicente, and Lil RC as well as her husband RC. In addition, she is survived by her brothers and sisters; Ruben Hernandez, Raul Hernandez, Raymond Hernandez, Guadalupe Hernandez, Rebecca Muela, Norma Reyes, Olivia Camacho, Delia Jones, Manuela Nieto, Ida Hernandez, and Gracie Sosa. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss her dearly. She is joined in heaven with her parents, brother Robert G. Hernandez, sister Janie H. Brown, and daughter Little Sara.

Her viewing and services will be held  Friday August 7th, 2020 at Blackwell-Vasquez Funeral Home on Uvalde Road in Houston. The Rosary will begin at 6, and the service will begin at 7 for family and friends to reconnect and talk about their fond memories of Carmen Camacho. Know that she loved us all and will be watching over us until we see her again.
