Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 at W.E. Lusain Funeral Home and Crematory (2060 Germantown Street). Visitation will begin at 12:00 and service to follow at 1:00pm. Masks are required for entry.
On the morning of September 23, 2021 Catherine Walker was called home at the age of 61. Cathy was the second oldest out of five children, born to the late Joe Echols and Marie (Echols) Brown on Sept 4,1960 in Lagrange Ga., she then relocated to Dayton Ohio.
Ms. Cathy attended Fairview High. Cathy later on in life became a employee of Dayton Public Schools Board of Education .She worked as a teacher aide at Belmont High School. Always a hard worker Mrs. Cathy encountered several occupational endeavors. She will always be known as a person of encouragement and motivation, the one to give her shirt off her back and open her house to any one in need of a place to stay.
Ms. Cathy was preceded in death by her father Joe Dean Echols mother Marie Brown and only brother Marty Echols, along with grandparents Aurther and Minnie lee Askew, And grandmother Matilda Bozeman of Atlanta Ga.
She leaves behind to cherish five children: Jerome (Jada) Walker, Erica Flowers, Michael Walker, Marty Powers, and Deja Powers, and three sister: Loretta Askew, and Minnie Echols and Laretha Brown. Along with seven grandchildren : Jay’nia Lacey, Ja’mya Lacey, and Jonathan Lacey, Royal Powers, Jamillah Powers, Aniyah Powers and Mikanay Walker, and two great grandchildren: Michael Debrill, and Ma’khai Debrill, and two nieces: Donte’ja Brown, and Donye’lle. And nephews: Blayne Alexander, and Dontay Echols. Special cousin Lavada Johnson and daughter in law Takeya Woods and a host of family and friends.
Mrs. Cathy was well known as mommy, granny, granny gran, and to friends Mrs.Cathy. But most of all, proudly known as Pete!. Cathy always was motivating and encouraging others. Her love and loyalty for others lead her to live a life of kindness, love and selflessness. Mrs. Cathy was always the life of the party and the voice that had to be heard.
Catherine Walker will always be loved, missed and cherished by all in our hearts, and all who came across her path in her life journey. (AkA )Pistol Pete!!.
