Mr. Derrick Lamont Gilliam, 36, of Salem, AL passed Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Mr. Gilliam was born April 8, 1985, in Phenix City, Alabama to James Gilliam and Catharee Gilliam. Derrick worked as a Network Consultant Engineer for Cisco. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Regis University and multiple computer security related certifications.
Derrick was extremely proud of his eight years of military service with the United States Marine Corps. He served in two combat tours in Iraq, earning several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (with two stars), and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Derrick will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father James Gilliam.
His memories are cherished by a loving mother, Catharee Gilliam; son, Jerimiah Gilliam; daughter, Natalia Gilliam; sister, Mary Ann (John) Larch of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brothers, Richard Gilliam, Rodney Gilliam, Anthony Gilliam and Brian Gilliam; aunt, Sarah Hensley; uncles, Willie C. (Mildred) Bellamy and Tommy Bellamy; three sisters-in-law, Jovita Gilliam, Tammy Gilliam and Sonia Gilliam; a devoted companion, Victoria Johnson; family friend, Cierra Piett and a host of other family and friends.
