Domenic Walter Vergari passed away peacefully with family by his side at the age of 79 on November 30, 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama.  Domenic was born to the late Ida Wininski Vergari and the late Alfred Vergari on June 16, 1943 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.  He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg and attended Fitchburg State College where he excelled in track. He was employed at Weyerhaeuser Paper Company until he relocated with his family to Edgewater, Florida in 1981, where he worked in real estate.  Domenic was a proud member of the fraternal organization Knights of Columbus.  He always enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard, going to the beach and bike riding.  

Domenic retired in Deltona, Florida and later moved to Hoover, Alabama to be closer to his grandchildren.  He is pre-deceased by his sister Elizabeth Vergari Wisniewski Formisani, who passed away in 1993 and his ex-wife Nancy McKenney Vergari, who passed away in 2012.  Domenic is survived by his two daughters, Lynne and husband Bill Richards of Hoover, Alabama and Lisa and husband Chris Casey of Pompano Beach, Florida; his brother, Paul Vergari and wife Sarah of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Kristyn Richards Cornelison and husband Stephen, Nick Richards, and Kathryn Richards; his great grandson James Cornelison; and several nieces and nephews.


A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, 96 Goodrich Street, Fitchburg, Massachusetts 01420 followed by a Celebration of Life.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/  or to the charity of your choice.
