Our friend Doug left behind a legacy of extraordinary talent and deep love. My life is better for having known him. He and my husband, Bruce, have been the best of friends since their elementary school years at Brookwood Forest.
In the many years Doug and I were friends, I never saw him fail to show compassion and kindness. He was funny, gentle, caring and mind-blowingly talented (there will never be another voice like his). Even though he accomplished many outstanding things in his lifetime, the thing he did best was friendship. For the last several months, he has come to our home every evening, without fail, to help Bruce into bed. (Bruce's need for assistance due to his MS). Doug did not miss a single night until he fell ill in his last few days of life.
I know that Doug knew and loved Christ and I know that heaven is so glad to have him home. We, however, are deeply saddened to be separated from him for a time.
