Mr. Shelnutt was born July 31, 1928 in Heard County to the late Walter Franklin Shelnutt and Lena Lee Adams Shelnutt.

He was a Baptist by faith, and served in the US Army.

He enjoyed the outdoors, and especially liked to fish. He also liked to watch TV in his leisure time.

He is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Victor Shelnutt; two sisters, Fannie Mae Nelms and Doris Madaris; five brothers: Luther F. Shelnutt, Aubrey Lee Shelnutt, Avery B. Shelnutt, JD Shelnutt, and Harvey D. “Pete” Shelnutt; and an infant sibling.
