Gracie Mae (Austin) McClain was born in Colquitt, Georgia to Arthur Archie Austin & Daisy Barfield Porter on August 12, 1945. She was the eldest of six children. Her family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she graduated from Hughes High School. In 1959 Gracie met the “Love of Her Life” , Albert David McClain and the two were married for over 34 years. To this union two children were born, David Matthias McClain & Sarah Grace McClain (McDonald).

Gracie was a devout Christian who loved the Lord, her husband, children, grandchildren, and her family in general. She was a member of New Christian Life Baptist Church, later Bethlehem Baptist Church and also Word of Truth Ministries. She was an excellent homemaker and cook, known for her “famous” Barbeque Sauce, her Chocolate Sour Cream Pound Cakes, Sun Made Sweet Tea, and the best Kool-Aid around.

Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert D, McClain; her daughter, Sarah G. McClain McDonald; her parents Archie & Daisy Austin and two brothers, Archie Jr. & Craig Austin.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son; David Matthias McClain (Kasey). her son-in-law; Roy RaShad McDonald, 3 sisters; Emma Cavanaugh, Janet Austin, & Latonya Combs (Arlandus), 8 grandchildren; David McClain, Jr., Destiney McClain, Devin McClain, Daniel McClain, Khalia McDonald, Roy McDonald, Jr., David McDonald & Santana McDonald, a God daughter; Dena R. Wright, 5 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, also a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
