Her Life

Mrs. Judy was born February 9, 1923 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Andrew William Szalkay and Lena Belle Lewis. She was a Christian by faith.

She was a lover of the arts and photography. She put her passion to work in many aspects of her life. She worked as an artist and designer for Callaway Mills in LaGrange for many years. She also passed on her talent to children as an instructor in the Heard County School System during the 1950’s.

She also enjoyed reading, especially poetry and history. She helped to preserve history as a member of the Heard County Historical Society.

She liked the outdoors, especially growing flowers in her garden. She loved horses and cats and enjoyed having them at home.

Having family get-togethers at home were some of her most precious times. She loved to cook meals for her family and gather at the table.

Survivors include: one daughter, Melody Hopkins of Navarre, FL; two sons: Vernon Judy (Marina) of Franklin and Luther Judy (Nancy) of Monroe, NC; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Dyer Judy
