Henry Sidney Downs died on 5 August 2024, at the age of 92. Born in the village of Gorey on the island of Jersey, he later moved to London, where he worked as a labourer. As an amateur bodybuilder, he entered the Mr Adonis and Mr Body Beautiful competitions at the Scala Theatre. He placed second in Mr Britain in 1955. Disappointed, he changed his workout routine and went on to secure that title in 1957. He would go on to win the Mr. Universe title in 1960 (representing England) after an incredible 9 attempts to do so. Henry latterly resided in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
