This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Jay Olasa A. Pili, Jr., 41 years old, born on September 8, 1982, and passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2024. Jay was born in Torrance, CA, preceded in death by his parents Olasa Sr. and Aigalesala, nephews Andrew, Nicholas, and great niece Melaini. He is survived by his wife Emmie, daughter Kiana, sisters Mavis (Seth, Jessica, Angelica), and Sue (Justin, Jeremy, Chelsie).
Jay earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Miami. He was a passionate supporter of the LA Lakers and the San Francisco 49ers, proudly demonstrating his loyalty through his travels. In 2013, he journeyed to New Orleans to attend Super Bowl XLVII, where the 49ers faced off against the Baltimore Ravens. He also made the trip to California to witness the LA Lakers in action against the Boston Celtics during the NBA Finals in June of 2010.
Jay had a deep love for his friends and family, and his life was enriched with love, laughter, and a sense of adventure. He was passionate about cooking, snowboarding, and especially traveling. He explored the world with his friends and, most importantly, with his wife, Emmie. Earlier this year, they embarked on a memorable one-month journey to Vietnam, Emmie's homeland, where they visited several cities and immersed themselves in the local food and culture. Jay often shared the photographs and videos he took with friends and family, capturing the stories of their shared experiences.
Above all, Jay’s greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to Emmie for six wonderful years and a loving father to their five year old daughter, Kiana. Jay’s kindness, infectious laughter, and generosity were evident to all who knew him. He was the friend you could always rely on for support and the family member who united everyone. Jay’s life was full of vitality, and he leaves behind a legacy of memories that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
A celebration of Jay's life will take place on Saturday, September 7 from 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home (9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032).
Additionally, please bring a 4x6 photo of Jay to be included in a keepsake photo album for Emmie and Kiana. To view the order of service, please see below.
