April 16, 2017

April 19, 1927 - February 8, 2017

Joe Garcia, 80, was called to his Heavenly home.

He was born in Conejos Colorado to Lotario and Agapura Velasquez Garcia.

At age 17, with his mothers signature, he enlisted in the Arm and was stationed in Franfort, Germany during World War II.

He returned to Antonito, Colorado in 1949, where he met Lily Gallegos. They were married in 1951. In 1955 he was hired at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Steel Company in Pueblo where he was employed for 34 years.

Joe will always be remembered for being there to help family and friends in many ways and for his social nature.

He was an usher at Praise Assembly of God and volunteered for 20 years at the Pueblo Cooperative Care Center, an emergency food assistance pantry. He was selected by the Veterans organization Honor Flight of Southern Colorado to visit Washington D.C. in 2013.

Joe will forever be missed by family and friends and this is a token to share stories of your own!
