Virg and family, my heartfelt condolences to you all on the passing of Joe from this world. He was and will always be a rockstar to me. Truly a beautiful soul, making this seventh of eight children feel special. So wonderful to see the beautiful family he was blessed to have. A soul remains connected unbounded by the limits of this physical world. May you be comforted as you move forward and honor his memory.
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Joe Palumbo. He was a truly remarkable person whose legacy will undoubtedly live on through the countless lives he touched. His kindness, wisdom, and strength of character were evident to all who knew him. We had so many amazing times together over the course of many years, and those memories will always be cherished. We hold the entire Palumbo family close in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time.

Joe was a man of MANY friends as was his father. The Palumbo family built a strong family business and helping many while doing so. Joe took the lead in many projects and gave openly to anyone with misfortunes' along the way. If Joe could do you a favor, HE WOULD.
He was a friend to all and will truly be missed, (THE EARTH MOVES WITH PALUMBO) and surely the pearly gates.

My cousin, my friend thru life... as children we laughed, as grownups we laughed harder. His generosity was some times overwhelming and yet always given with joy. His love for his family was a joy to see and he always felt Blessed. I'll look forward to sitting with him at that great dinner table. God Bless Joe

I have had the honor of working with Joe for 17 years. I watched him use long-range and strategic thinking to convert what was, in 2007, but a 150 parcel of vacant, undeveloped land in East Dundee into what is now a 400 acre + thriving business park with high quality industrial buildings and with the area's most well-know truck park. And all the while, his main concern was building long-term security for his family. Joe was a terrific person, and I will miss him every day.

When we met 30 years ago I didn't know who you were or why I was there, but we sat together at dinner. there were four tables in a giant banquet room at Magiano's and I was at yours with your Dad, his girl and your Wife Virginia.
I found out later it was your "going away" party.
2 years ago we met again at the most AMAZING party I'd ever been to. I told you then Joe, my friend that you were a living legend, that you were one of a kind and how as a teenager we drove past your house and talked about how you would fly in and land a chopper in the backyard.
We talked for hours on the phone about your experiences, troubles and successes, the music we both loved and the crazy nights you just had.
One day I asked you what made you so motivated, you told me how you woke up everyday excited to take on the World, and how "it was a new day, everyday", how you always had big plans and how that drove you.
The last time I saw you, you met my 11 year old son, hugged him and gave him words of wisdom....and told me "Tony, you don't need to tell me how amazing I am so much" It was the only time we disagreed.....
I will never stop Joe...there is and was only 1 Joe Palumbo, God broke that mold the day he made you, you unbelievably amazing, 1 of a kind DIAMOND!!
There will NEVER be another like you, you will always shine as the brightest Star this poor, lowly Landscaper ever knew. thank you for allowing me to get to know you JOE!! thanks for the words of wisdom, the kindness and those talks.
GOD SPEED JOE, SHINE ON YOU AMAZING DIAMOND!

We are all sadden by Joe’s passing as he was a great husband, father and friend for so many. I first met Joe some 50 years ago when he enrolled as a new student at Bradley University. As a member of Sigma Nu he was very involved and became Commander, the main leadership position decided by his classmates. Later. As an alum, he supported Sigma Nu and current members with a generous leadership gift that will forever be a part of the fraternity. I will especially always remember our many conversations this past year and his love for family and his many EN brothers.

I feel grateful and honored to have had the chance to work with and for Joe and his amazing family and organization. I want to take this moment to reflect on the way that Joe and everyone else always made me feel like I was part of his extended family. He did so much for me in such a short time that made a major impact on my heart and I will forever be grateful for his friendship, advice, and constructive criticisms. A true man of his word. Never anything but the best for him and his guests and his family and friends. I am just honored to have been one of them.
Special thanks to you, My Pal Joe!!!

They say that truly extraordinary and exceptional people don’t remind you of anyone else, and I certainly feel that applies to Joe. I was proud to have him as a pledge son and a friend and he will be missed by many. It’s a tragedy that Joe died so young, but it would have been much more tragic had he never lived at all. Joe made a difference in so many lives and I pray that he enjoys a peaceful eternity. Love, Romo.

A few years ago, we were visiting Joe and Virginia at Margaritaville and started reminiscing about our time together in Acapulco, and celebrating New Year's Eve together. During our conversation, we discovered that in 2017, Joe had provided funding to relight the cross at the Chapel of Peace in Acapulco, Mexico. This chapel, built in 1967 by the Trouyet family (of Las Brisas) as an ecumenical symbol of hope & peace, was dedicated to their two sons who tragically died in a plane crash.
The chapel, with its impressive 138-foot-tall (12 stories!) cross, was first lit in 1971 and could be seen from anywhere in Acapulco. However, around 2013, the cross went dark for reasons unknown. Thanks to Joe Palumbo's involvement, on March 18, 2017, at 7:30 pm, the cross was illuminated once more, casting its light over the city again.
The people of Acapulco now have their symbol of peace, God’s provision, and a family's love restored. Joe’s contribution might be largely unknown, but now you know the 'rest of the story'. Remember, heaven cannot be earned by good works, but our lives should shine with good works as a natural result of our faith.

Ever since we were little kids together we've shared a lifetime of memories and great times together. The family that you've created together is one to be very proud of and he sure was! I could reaffirm his generosity, fun, love for others and his engineering genius to create. He will be sadly missed but forever held close to my heart. All my love to everyone.

What started as playing at his daughters wedding quickly turned into a friendship. We are very much alike. We are unorthodox. We dream big, push boundaries, and we love to entertain. Though it was only a few short years, a lot of memories were made. Being a part of building Magnum Opus, acquiring the cars, unveiling the Ford GT's at Iron Gate, attending the Mecum auction preview, visiting me at work, bringing a car out to my exotic car show, hanging out in lawn chairs talking, random phone calls about music videos or songs he liked. Even if I wasn't playing and there was live music, he would grab my arm, and his harp, and say "let's go show them how it's done." haha. He welcomed me and my family into his world and always made it a point to spend quality time with me at any event that he hosted. I have gotten to know his amazing family and friend circles and cherish those relationships as well, and will keep them in my thoughts as they navigate this painful loss. Joe, You celebrated life to the fullest and shared it with everyone around you. I now live a more driven and intentional life because you were in it. Outside of hanging out more often, the only thing I regret is never asking you why you only TYPED EMAILS IN ALL CAPS ;) Rest in peace, buddy.

I will always cherish my friendship with my Pal,Joe. It didn’t matter where I ran into Joe, he was always gracious with that famous smile, and one of a kind laugh. Until we meet again, may the Lord comfort his family and embrace Joe, as he has us.God Bless.

Joe was such a great man and will be missed by so many that were fortunate enough to have known him.  I last saw Joe a few years ago at his grandsons and my Godson’s baseball game who happened to be on the same team.  It was years before then that I last saw him but didn’t feel that way when we talked.  He always took a true interest in everyone he met.  Such a loving man.  I have many fond memories of him and will always appreciate how kind and welcoming he was to me.  He raised an equally kind and loving family.  I will keep Joe and his family in my prayers.
