John Milton Poss, 51, of Good Hope, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 10, 2017.

He was born on September 10, 1965 to the late Milton and Allison Poss of Good Hope.
John graduated from North Georgia Technical College in 1986. He then returned to Good Hope, where he owned and operated the Good Hope General Store for many years. John and his wife Beth later started their own successful internet services, hosting, and web design business, American Netlink.

John had a life-long passion for cooking. An excellent self-taught chef, he enjoyed nothing more than preparing and sharing meals that brought people together. In May 2012, along with his wife, Beth, he fulfilled his dream of having his own restaurant when they opened Hot Rod’s Diner in Social Circle Village. Hot Rod’s Diner was a huge success. In January of 2017 John took over the operations of Social Circle’s historic Blue Willow Inn. Although, he only lived a few months longer, anyone who knew him, knew that the Blue Willow Inn brought tremendous joy to John and all he served in his brief time there.
Above all else, John was a man who loved his family and community and that love shone through in all he did and the countless lives he touched. He will be greatly missed by many.

John is survived by his wife of 16 years, Beth; daughters Sherya Davis and her husband Cody of Marion, Ohio and Victoria Messer of Good Hope; and grandson Cody Davis, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters Nan Smith and her husband Paul Monahan of Braselton and Celia Thompson and her husband Mike of Gainesville; nieces Kellie Smith of Brookhaven and Valerie Schicho and her wife Jenny Stevens of Atlanta; nephews Eric Thompson and his wife Lindsey of Cumming, Will Thompson and his wife Jennifer of Canton, and Wesley Smith and his wife Taylor of Brookhaven; his beloved cousin and lifelong friend, Donald Poss and wife Nancy of Good Hope; and many beloved aunts and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lisa Poss Bray.

Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe on Thursday, July 13th from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Meadows Funeral Home on Friday, July 14th at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Good Hope Christian Church Cemetery.
