Joyce Humphryes Rawls
Joyce Humphryes Rawls – Age 85 of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on May 18, 2024, at Diversicare in Bessemer. Joyce grew up in Searles, Tuscaloosa County where she graduated from Brookwood High School and was a cheerleader for the Panthers from 1955 to 1957.She is one of 16 children of the late James Luther & Myrtie Hyche Humphryes. Joyce lived in many states while married to second husband but for the last 35 years she has been in Hoover Alabama with her younger 3 children. She loved to travel and see the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first spouse Hargrove Black, second spouse Edwin Rawls, sisters Myrtle Sellers Shaneyfelt-Birmingham, Annonetta Hudson-Taylorville, Lula Sellers Briggs-Bessemer, Melba Kimbrel-Birmingham, Sue Kelley Brasher-Vance, Betty Dean-Brookwood, Glenda Foster-Tuscaloosa, brothers James L (Bud) Humphryes Jr-Brookwood, Charlie Bill Humphryes-Peterson, Ronald Humphryes-Vance.
Survivors include her children Barry Black (Suzanne)-Tuscaloosa, Tyra Black Horton (Ken) Florida, Edwin Smithwick Rawls II-Hoover, Julie Ann Rawls-Hoover, Michaela Suzanne Rawls-Bham, Grandchildren Cameron Hargrove Black (Savannah Milsaps)-Coaling, Evan Johnson Black (Megan Vail)-Northport, sister Vickie Henline-Birmingham, brothers Carver Humphryes (Debbie)-Vance, Larry Humphryes (Jean)-Vance, Steve Humphryes (Annette)- Brookwood, Jeff Humphryes - Searles and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. She will be cremated at W.E. Lusain Funeral Home and Crematory in Birmingham.

It was so heartbreaking to hear of my mom's passing. She was always there for me when I needed a best friend. Her lose has created an emptiness in my soul and my being but the memories of such a beautiful lady will show through. I spent some time with her before her passing to remember such a lady that I call my Mom, Joyce Anne Rawls.

Losing a mother is a pain that cannot be described in words. It is virtually impossible to move on from the memory of losing the woman who sacrificed happiness in her own life so that we could have a better one. A mother's love is truly irreplaceable. (proudhappymama)
