Julz Barnhart Gone Never Forgotten

July 13, 2017

Julie Ann Barnhart “Julz”, age 55, a US Army veteran and Tonganoxie, KS resident passed away in her home Saturday, December 24, 2016. She was born July 31, 1961 in Kansas City, KS to James Clifford Barnhart and Roberta Francis Deister. She attended Raytown and went on to get her certified nursing aid certificate from Penn Valley Community College.

Playing softball as a kid was something Julie enjoyed to do, she was very competitive. Julie loved to race cars and loved to go fast. She lived life in the fast lane and wasn’t afraid of anything. She took great pleasure in the outdoors, animals, and especially horses. Julie was a jack of all trades and loved to be doing anything with her hands and she was very good at it. Julie got her certified nursing degree because she enjoyed caring for people and was often sought after as an in home nurse for the comfort she provided to her patients. She would do anything for anyone, was very protective of the ones she loved and had a very forgiving nature. Those of us who were privileged enough to call her a friend will forever have a void in our heart, she left a mark on everyone she ever met and she will be profoundly missed.

Julie is survived by sisters Sue Henry and Debbie Pulley; brothers Bobby Jackson, Tony Barnhart, Jody Barnhart; and many of her other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and the rest of her family and friends.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents James Barnhart and Roberta Deister as well as step father Robert Jackson; Grandparents Robert Francis, Betty Worley, and step grandfather Jim Majors; brothers Jimmy Barnhart and Joe Barnhart.

A portion of Julie’s ashes have been placed at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. A memorial service was held at the National Leavenworth Cemetery on Thursday December 29, 2016. A celebration of life was held July 29, 2017 to commemorate her birthday.
