June Yvonne Gardner was born the third daughter to Mildred B. Nelson and the late Johnnie Lee Nelson.

June was born in Slayden, Mississippi on June 15, 1957. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior during her adolescent years at Hunter Ave Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Northside High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1975.

In 1989, June moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she met her best friend Charles Gardner, Sr. February 14, 1994 the two were united as one. In 1993, she rededicated her life to Christ and became a dedicated member of God’s Grace Church of God in Christ, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Raymond M. Like, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her bestfriend and devoted husband, Charles Gardner Sr.; her loving mother~Mildred B. Nelson of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Tomeka Powell of Memphis, TN and Tiffany Gardner of St. Louis, MO; two sons, Charles (Angela) Gardner Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Christopher (Cardenas) Gardner of Swansea, IL; four granddaughters, Tyra, Tiernei‘, Trinity, and Kaliya and two grandsons Tavion and Charles III; three sisters~ Jeanette (Everett) Mitchell, Bettie Wilson, and Mildred Raynor and three brothers, John W. Nelson (preceded her in death), Robert (Jeffrie) Nelson, and William (Alma) Nelson all of Memphis, TN. She also leaves her father-in-law Eugene Gardner Sr., eight sister-in-laws and four brother-in-laws. Additionally, she leaves an uncle Clarence(Shirley) Leggett, Memphis, TN and three aunts Luvenia Anderson, Memphis, TN, Mattie Kelly of Detroit, Michigan and Temple May (Hattie) Nelson, Slayden, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
