His Life

Kevin Lee Smith, Beloved Husband

June 22, 2017
Born on October 14, 1956 in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, Kevin was adopted by Ted and Mozelle Smith of Swannanoa. He was raised in the house his father Ted had built for his new bride, Mozelle, 75 years earlier. Later in life, Kevin was an active member of the Young Republicans Club for many years and served as President for several terms. During his professional career, Kevin was a highly decorated law enforcement agent in Madison County. Mr. Smith retired after being brutally stabbed in the line of duty.

It was during the end of 2001 Kevin met his beloved wife, Cheryl Ann Piscopo, formerly of St. Petersburg. On January 10, 2002 on bended knee, Kevin proposed to Cheryl at Wiseman’s View.  The couple were later married on June 29, 2002 in a ceremony before family and friends at Black Mountain Methodist Church, located in Black Mountain. Shortly after, Mr. & Mrs. Smith purchased a home and several acres of land in Swannanoa, a move which afforded Kevin the opportunity to continue to care for his elderly parents, and allow him the freedom to farm his land. Kevin later open his own business, There You Grow Nursery.

Throughout his adult life, Kevin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his hobbies of camping, hunting and fishing with Cheryl by his side. At his untimely death, the couple were happily married and had recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. Although not blessed with any children, Kevin and Cheryl adopted one "fur baby". A beagle puppy named "Buster" Kevin had rescued from an illegeal puppy mill and given to his wife for her 40th birthday.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Ted and his devoted companion, Buster.

Kevin Lee is survived by his adoring wife, Cheryl Ann and his mother, Mozelle.
