Fishing

May 17, 2017

Uncle Lonnie used to fish Megabucks Tournaments with my dad. They were the best of friends, he always considered him his brother. He would fish from dawn to dark with mom and dad, always trying to outfish one another... they had "trash piles" or "Honey Holes" in the St. John's River, Lake Harris, and others where they had heavy fishing spots. They even had a map of these spots! They decked out their bass boats with all the latest technology and liked to standout at tournaments

Army Life

May 17, 2017

Uncle Lonnie was a Sgt in the United States Army. He was 19 years old when he entered and in 6 weeks was in the middle of Vietnam. He filled his role with pride and was willing to lay down his life for his men and his country. He was shot twice during the war. Recently, he suffered a lot of the effects of agent orange, the repellent used during the war. He had liver failure and sarcoidosis along with other ailments that are side effects from it. Due to the gruesome details of that war, he also suffered from PTSD. He was a highly decorated veteran and never forgot the men left behind.  He also never forgot the way his own country snubbed him and his men who returned....
