Marian was born on the 15th October 1941 in Darlington..she was the eldest of four children of Mary Mitchell...she spent her childhood in Darlington...her Grandmother had a little shop that used to sell different bits including stuffed animals in glass cages which is where i think she got her aversion to them...she enjoyed fishing down at the creek and often told me her childhood was a lovely time. Mum met my father at a dance they both attended whilst he was based at catterick with the army..dad gave her a park drive cigarette...that cigarette was the start of their relationship..they married and went onto have six children...Kevin, Myself , Elaine ,    Sylvia ,Michael and Mark..we lived in Exeter for a short while as that's where i was born but finally settled in Scunthorpe where her last four children were born...we enjoyed a fairly carefree childhood growing up in Percival st but as time went on mum and dad sadly out grew each other and divorced after 25 years of marriage...mum moved to a new home in jackson rd...a place she loved and would live out the rest of her days in...she doted on her grandchildren and was thrilled when her first great grandchild came along...over time mum developed copd ( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ) a condition that left her quite reliant on us especially with housework ( whatever bit there was..her house was always pristine) and her garden...her grandsons would cut her grass and she looked forward to sitting in her kitchen awaiting her visits..In february 2012 mum was admitted to hospital...but after leaving hospital ( we all thought she was discharged too soon ) she developed pneumonia and was re-admitted...sadly the pneumonia on top of the COPD was just too much for her lungs to cope with...she left us on  monday night 12 March 2012....and broke the hearts of all of us ...each and every one of us will continue on life's journey missing this wonderful woman every single day. <3
