Mary N. Ostrum (nee Lariviere), 92, cherished mom, grandmom and great-grandmom, went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2024.

Mary was born on February 25, 1932 in Iron Mountain, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Henri and Eleanor Lariviere. She and her late brother Dave Lariviere grew up in Crookston, Minnesota, before Mary moved to the Philadelphia area and began raising her family in the 1950s.

Upon the passing of her first husband in 1966, Mary became a young widow at age 34 years. She overcame many life challenges during this time, displaying love, character, compassion, determination and resolve in raising her 8 young children in Ardmore, PA and later Woodstown, NJ. She proved to be the guiding light in helping her children through their youths and in reaching their own life-long dreams. A devout Catholic, Mary's deep religious beliefs helped her remain a loving and devoted family member throughout her life as well as a friend to all.

Mary worked as a long-time manager for the Western Union Company and later as a licensed dealer in the casino entertainment industry, making numerous friends and life-long acquaintances along the way. She was a talented pianist who also loved to sing and play cards. Mary especially enjoyed sharing these talents with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ostrum is survived by her 8 children, Carl Ostrum (Pam), Carmel Haines (Larry), Dave Cantelmi, Denice Hollinger (John), Gus Ostrum (Susan), Greg Ostrum, Nancy McStay (Hugh) and Kate Tigani. She was a loving grandmom to her 12 grandchildren, Bobby, Jack, Andrea, Charlotte, Mandy, Jackie, Claire, Niki, Kim, Hughie, Chris, and Meghan, as well as great-grandmom to 14. She was predeceased by both her first husband, Augustine Cantelmi, and her second husband, Gordon J. Ostrum.
