I want to forever thank Susan Edson, Nancy's life long best friend, for introducing us. I was 22 and she was 21. When I first saw her, she was the most beautiful, angelic creature I'd ever encountered. But, what became immediately clear, was her concern and compassion for others. I had never met someone who worked so hard to please every one in her life. So, yes, it was love at first sight. 

We were so comfortable with each other from the very beginning. We found that we could be completely open and honest with each other about every thing.  When you open your heart like she did, it makes you very vulnerable. People did not understand that her "naive" nature was simply her unconditional loving nature and, unlike a lot of people, she had no alterior motive other than love.

It wasn't long before her obvious physical and spiritual beauty caused me to fall in love with her. When we first met. For weeks I called her every morning when she got up, at  lunchtime, and before she went to bed at night. She was so easy to talk to about anything (especially our growing love for each other).

Nancy went to Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va. and I attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. So, it was a bit of a long distance relationship, which is difficult at best for two very young college students. . . to be continued . . .
