On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Dr. Niran Kotrapu, MD unexpectedly departed from this worldin Palm Desert, California.
Niran and his wife, Timmie, immigrated from Thailand to the United States in 1962 and eventually settled down in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Dr. Kotrapu began his career at MidDakota Clinic in 1974. He was a pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist who cared forgenerations of children in Bismarck/Mandan and the surrounding area.
During those rewarding years, Niran would say their greatest accomplishment wasthe birth of their son, Dan, who brought unspeakable joy and energy to their household.
Niran and his wife Timmie spent many happy hours on the golf course as members of the Apple Creek Country Club. However, as retirement began to become more intriguing, Niran decided to trade in his stethoscope and snow tires for golf clubs and sunshine! (Afterall, he needed to polish his game to catch up to Timmie!) Niran retired from MDC in 2005 after 31 years of devoted service to his patients and their families. Theirretirement yearswere spent in Californiawhere he enjoyed much time on the golf coursecreating many unforgettable memories and spending quality time with treasured friends.
His greatest satisfaction in life was (undoubtedly) found in the unwavering love he shared with his wife, Timmie, for an incredible 57 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Timmie, son Dan and daughter-in-law Ivy, and their children, Kaden and Mabel, who were Niran’s absolute pride and joy.
We are deeply grateful for the gift of this extraordinary man in our lives as a devoted husband, loving father, incredibly proud grandfather, and cherished friend.
Niran’s kindness shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on all whose lives he touched. He will be dearly missed and hispresence will forever be in our hearts.
