Patricia Kay Murphy McCormick

July 9, 1956 to May 31, 2024

Patricia Kay Murphy McCormick, age 67, resident of Prattville, Alabama, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, May 31, 2024.

Pat was born in Bitburg, Germany, the middle child of seven. As the child of an Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, she moved several times in her younger years and then came to live, with her family, in Prattville, Alabama where she graduated from Autauga County High School in 1974. Pat went on to serve her country in the Air Force, obtaining both a bachelor’s and master’s degree during that time. After fulfilling her time in the armed forces, Pat dedicated the remainder of her career to assisting others, first through vocational rehabilitation services, and later through student services in higher education.

Pat’s family will remember her as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and loyal sister. Pat was a dedicated volunteer to her church community, an avid gardener, compassionate pet owner, and charitable philanthropist. Above all, she was a devoted follower of Christ and lived out her faith through prayer, devotion, and acts of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert McCormick Jr., parents, Lt. Col. John G. Murphy and May Nora (Katie) Johnson Murphy, and brother, Charles Murphy.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Beth) Byrnside, daughter Sarah Byrnside, son Ryan McCormick, grandchildren Mailey Kate and Rhett Byrnside, and her siblings, John Murphy, Alan (Deanne) Murphy, Jo (Jerry) Tatum, Gayle Anderson, and Teresa (Michael) O’Neal.

Please join us in celebrating her life Saturday morning, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m, at Real Life Church, 1834 I65 Service Road East, Millbrook, Alabama, 36054. Visitation will be held following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Real Life Church in memory of Pat’s love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I remember my younger sister by 20 months as my shadow. She was always by my side helping me with whatever “project” I was into.
We had a Girl Scout troop together where we shared our love of learning and service to others.
Pat was stubborn in a good way, always the first to say NO to wrong-doing.  She had more patience than any of us, and never judged people.
She loved The Chosen, and bought us all T-shirts and cups in supporting the series.
She was strong , independent and our rock. We could always go to Pat for advice. I will miss her everyday until I meet her at The Gate.
