His Life

His walk with God began in the 1980s

April 13, 2018

Robert was saved in Woodland Park, Colorado, and joined the church there. He and former wife Joanie became very involved in the church, playing the piano, singing in the choir, and going to bible studies.
Some friends we remember: The Henson family, The McPhersons, Jim and Inabeth and family, and Dick and Lois.
Robert went to the Nazarene bible college to complete his degree, and became a pastor of Springs of Faith Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs. He ministered there for many years, and held potlucks after Sunday service for the needy. Robert always had interesting stories to go with his messages, and was an inspriational speaker. Later in life he also attended Trinity Church of the Nazarene and the Church for all Nations.

Karate 1970s

April 13, 2018

Did you know Robert had a brown belt in Karate? He didn't want to get a black belt because it would require you to register your hands. as deadly weapons. "He used to practice every day," his olders son, Rip, recalls. "Everyone wanted to be like dad." He and former wife Joanie nearly named their son Bruce Lee (they settled for Kenneth Lee).
Pictures to come soon.

Racing 1970s

Robert loved cars and driving fast. He could take an engine out and fix it up and put in back together. He was always successful at whatever he wanted to do. We found this picture in his collection.

The Brothers Motorcycle Club 1970s

April 13, 2018

During the 70's, Robert joined a mororcycle club and earned himself the nickname "Boots." He and his friends traveled all around Ohio. For years after, these friends would remain in our lives. His kids remember being greeted many times with "Boots" and that was how they knew who his friends frrom the club were.

Army 1960s

April 13, 2018
Robert was in the army during the 60's. He always talked about life as a Ranger; it seemed like he had so many good memories from his time serving.
He kept his jump log, so hoping to add more details on the specifics soon.
If you notice on the photo Robert and his fellow soldiers in the front row all had a black armband.

Update: This information was shared with us after Dad's passing:
The military photo is the renowned 101st Airborne Division, also known as the Screaming Eagles. In WWII this division made world wide news at the Battle of the Bulge when they were surrounded by the Nazis, but refused to surrender. The black arm bands worn may have been a sign of injury, but this is not confirmed.
