Loved Superbow Trips

July 13, 2017

He loved his Superbowl trips, once to the game in San Diego, several to the Vegas sports book. Almost to the very end, he watched football with his grandson and son-in-law, once crawling out of bed to watch a game.
But by far his most memorable role was that of "Grandpa." He doted on his grandchildren, bragged about them incessantly, and spoiled them beyond measure. In his final days, the only regret he voiced aloud was that he wouldn't be able to take his grandkids to Japan to show them his favorite places.
Thank you to the Rocky Mountain Hospice team - Teresa, Stacy, Mario and Kathy - who cared for our grandpa in his final months. Roy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Keiko, who exemplified loving "in sickness and in health"; his siblings, Shihei, Sachiko and Shuhei of Tokyo, Japan; his daughter, Akiko; his son-in-law, Russell Monahan; and his beloved grandchildren Midori, Duncan and Jameson.
