Shirley Johnson (Baker) Walser, (Dec 12, 1947 - Apr 17, 2024) affectionately known as Maw Maw to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Ridgeview Nursing Home, Jasper, AL surrounded by her family.

Shirley graduated from Banks High School in Birmingham, AL, Class of 1965. She was a member of the Blue Jet Marching Band and played the clarinet. She thoroughly enjoyed all the band trips and the trip to Monterrey Mexico.

She attended Jefferson State Junior College where she made the Dean's List. She enjoyed being in the Thespians Club and made many friends whom she kept for many years. After college she attended Modeling School and walked the runway at The Alabama Theatre many times.

Shirley was not a "Wall Flower". She enjoyed dancing of all kinds, be it Buck Dancing, Texas 2 Step or Line Dancing, Bop, you name it she was in. She loved all kinds of music, Gospel, Popular, Country, Blue Grass, Rock N Roll and she loved to sing.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years Jack Walser, her son Bradley Joe Baker and her parents Sidney Bryce Johnson and Sarah Frances (Higdon) Johnson.

She is survived by her son James Bryce Baker and grandsons Anthony, Thomas and Bradley Baker, great grandsons, Logan and Langdon, sister, Norma Gibson Basner (Don), niece, Elizabeth Renda, nephew, Tommy Gibson (Katy), great nieces Riley (Roo) Gibson, Danielle Renda, great nephews Christopher Renda (Casey), Jonah Renda (Emma).

A private service for immediate family will be held at Veterans Memorial 
Cemetery, Montevallo, AL, Monday April 29.

There will be a Celebration of Life at her niece’s house, the same house her parents lived in years ago, Monday April 29 from 3 - 5.
