With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Theresa Stone Pritchett, 68, of Montevallo, Alabama. Theresa transitioned peacefully at her home with her adoring family by her side on May 30th, 2024, after a seven-month battle with cancer.
Theresa was born in Fort Payne, Alabama, on July 19th, 1955. After graduating from Guntersville High School, she continued her education at The University of Alabama, where she earned a degree in social work. She went on to receive a master's degree in counseling from the University of Montevallo. Her passion and dedication to others led her to rise through the ranks, ultimately becoming the Director of Counseling and Health Services at the University of Montevallo. Additionally, Theresa faithfully served as Chapter Advisor of the Phi Mu sorority at UM for over 30 years.
Theresa married the love of her life, David Pritchett, in 1977 and the two of them built a life based on family, faith and service. Together they were longtime devoted members of University Baptist Church and dedicated staff members of the University of Montevallo. Spending time with friends and family was Theresa’s greatest joy in life. She was a sincere, caring woman with an infectious smile who loved deeply and was in return loved by all who had the privilege to know her.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 47 years, David, daughter Jordan (Chad) Brantley, and son Stone (Elizabeth) Pritchett, grandchildren Beckett Brantley, Tucker Brantley and Bridget Henley Pritchett (due July 2024), sister Pam Stone, brother Rock (Lyn) Stone, sister-in-law Sheila Stone, numerous nieces and nephews and countless extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Bethel Ray Stone and Mahalah Stone, and brother Danny Stone.
