William Kevin DelGrosso (Bill) was born to Salvatore Joseph DelGrosso and Sybil Morrison DelGrosso in Newington, Connecticut on September 16th, 1953. He has an older brother, Earl DelGrosso, and a younger brother, Tim DelGrosso. Bill and his brothers resided in Newington, Connecticut where he spent his childhood and graduated high school.
While completing his undergraduate degree, he was a police sergeant with the Vestavia Police Department. He continued working as a police sergeant through graduate school in which, he graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a degree in Criminal Law. He Attended Cumberland School of Law for a short period before transferring to Birmingham School of Law to continue his education.
Bill met his beautiful bride, Alma (Spaby) in 1976 in Vestavia, Alabama, while he was working with the Vestavia Police Department. They fell in love and married in a Methodist minister home in 1978. In 1979, Bill and Spaby bought their home in Hoover, Alabama, where they raised three beautiful children together. Then 9 years later, in 1987, they married in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Bill continued his wonderful career in law until retirement in 2007. He then had the opportunity to travel overseas to work for the State Department and then the Department of Defense. He worked in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and then later traveled to Africa to work in Guinea-Bissau. After traveling overseas, he came home to enjoy time with his family and his fur babies; Sophie, Ollie, and Gracie. He enjoyed many hobbies, spending time at the beach, watching the Blue Angels, and creating joyful memories with his grandchildren.
He died July 3, 2024 at the age of 70 years old from an acute illness. He is survived by his wife Alma DelGrosso; brother Earl DelGrosso and wife Diane; brother Tim DelGrosso (Michelle); son Chris Hartsfield (Suzi); daughter Clara Chapman (Richard); grandchildren Kathryn Chapman, Anna Chapman Sumner (John), Trip Chapman; and his great grandchildren Banks and Miller.
A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace in Hoover, Al, on July 26, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1pm and service will follow at 1:30.
